IPNEWS: Liberia’s Inspector General of Police, Col. Gregory Coleman, announced that investigators have found no incriminating evidence against suspended Deputy Minister Bryant McGill after a thorough examination of his mobile phone.
The investigation had drawn considerable public attention due to previous allegations of rape against McGill.
Col. Coleman confirmed that the analysis of McGill’s phone revealed “nothing that would warrant a charge.”
He emphasized the commitment of the police to conducting a fair and thorough investigation, despite the challenges encountered along the way.
Looking ahead, the investigation will proceed to its next phase, which involves DNA testing.
However, this step has been delayed due to complications with malfunctioning equipment.
“We have requested assistance from a foreign government and are still awaiting support,” the police chief stated, highlighting the ongoing efforts to ensure the investigation continues effectively.
The situation remains fluid as the community looks for resolution in a case that has stirred significant public interest and concern about accountability and justice within the government.
Authorities are urged to expedite the process as many await further developments.
