—As Liberia Stands United in the Fight Against Terrorism with India

IPNEWS:  As part of the Government of India’s continued efforts under Operation Sindoor and in line with India’s principled and resolute stance against terrorism, an All-Party Delegation comprising Members of Parliament and a senior diplomat arrived in Monrovia, Republic of Liberia today (31 May).

Operation Sindoor emerged as a calibrated military response to an evolving pattern of asymmetric warfare, one that increasingly targets unarmed civilians along with military personnel. The terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam in the India-administered Kashmir in April 2025 served as grim reminder of this shift.

The visiting Indian Government delegation was received on arrival at the Roberts International Airport (RIA) in Harbel by Mr. Manoj Bihari Verma, Ambassador of India to Liberia, Mr. Sekou S. Kanneh, Representative, District #2, Montserrado County & Chairman of the House of Representatives’ Committee on Executive and Mr. Prince A, Toles, Representative, District #8, Montserrado County, House of Representatives.

The delegation will convey India’s strong message of zero tolerance towards terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.

“We have come with a message of peace,” Dr. Shrikant Eknath Shinde, Head of the Indian Delegation, said.

The following are the members of the delegation:

    1.    Dr. Shrikant Eknath Shinde (Head of Delegation), Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha (Lower House), Shiv Sena

    2.    Ms. Bansuri Swaraj, Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)

    3.    Mr. ET Mohammed Basheer, Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha, Indian Union Muslim League (IUML)

    4.    Mr. Atul Garg, Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)

    5.    Dr. Sasmit Patra, Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha (Upper House), Biju Janata Dal (BJD)

    6.    Mr. Manan Kumar Mishra, Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)

    7.    Mr. S. S. Ahluwalia, Former Member of Parliament and Former Minister of State, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)

    8.    Ambassador Sujan Chinoy, Former Ambassador to Japan and Mexico, Former Consul General of India in Shanghai and Sydney

During their three-day stay in Monrovia — May 31st to June 2nd — the delegation will be meeting with the President of Liberia, Mr. Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Snr, the Speaker of the House of Representatives (Lower House), Mr. Richard Nagbe Koon; the President Pro-Tempore of the Senate (Upper House), Ms. Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ms. Sara Beysolow Nyanti, as well as leading think tanks and representatives of the Liberian media.

On Wednesday, May 21st, His Excellency Ambassador Manoj Bihari Verma, India’s Ambassador accredited near Monrovia, paid a courtesy call on Her Excellency Madam Sara Beysolow Nyanti, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Liberia.

During the meeting, both officials held fruitful discussions aimed at strengthening the longstanding bilateral relations between India and Liberia. Included in their discussion, a source at Liberia’s Foreign Ministry disclosed to this outlet that Ambassador Verma had also briefed the Minister about the Indian Parliamentarian Delegation visit to Liberia.

Foreign Minister Beysolow-Nyanti and Amb. Verma explored avenues for enhanced cooperation in areas such as trade, education, healthcare, and capacity building.

Foreign Minister Nyanti expressed appreciation for India’s continued support to Liberia’s development efforts and emphasized the importance of deepening collaboration within multilateral frameworks.

Ambassador Verma reaffirmed India’s commitment to bolstering ties with Liberia and expressed optimism for future engagements that promote mutual growth and prosperity. Courtesy off the Liberia Post
