IPNEWS: The Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) on Monday launched a weeklong annual work-planning exercise aimed at strengthening institutional coordination and preparing the Authority to deliver on its ambitious FY2026 revenue target of US$1.21 billion.

Held at the RLJ Kendeja Resort in Paynesville, the exercise brings together Work Plan Focal Persons, Work Plan Owners, and a wide cross-section of senior and middle-level staff, including Assistant Commissioners, Managers, and Supervisors from across all divisions and departments.

Organized by the Policy, Statistics & Strategy Planning Division (PSSPD) in collaboration with the Human Resource (HR) Division and the Enterprise Development, Quality Assurance & Risk Department (EDQARD), the initiative seeks to promote a more integrated planning culture, enhance accountability, and ensure timely performance reporting across the Authority.

The effort aligns with the LRA’s Corporate Strategic Plan (CSP 2025–2029), which emphasizes coordinated enterprise planning as central to achieving revenue goals.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Assistant Commissioner for Human Resources, Madam Chupee Howe, praised PSSPD for steering the process and stressed the importance of structured and disciplined planning.

“There is no way we can achieve our strategic objectives and goals without developing a strong work plan that clearly outlines what we want to do, how we want to do it, and how we measure success,” she said.

Madam Howe called on participants to approach the training with seriousness, describing it as a critical step toward building a better-performing public institution.

Also addressing the gathering, Acting Manager for PSSPD, Mohammed M. Jallibah, underscored the role of robust planning and coordination in driving effective tax administration.

He noted that stronger planning systems allow the LRA to better track performance, address operational challenges early, and focus on priority revenue drivers needed to meet the FY2026 collection target.

Mr. Jallibah highlighted that enhanced revenue mobilization is essential to national development, as it expands government’s capacity to invest in infrastructure, social services, and other priority areas.

Throughout the week, participants will undergo practical sessions on developing departmental and divisional work plans, aligning activities with strategic outcomes, setting measurable performance indicators, and strengthening monitoring and reporting mechanisms.

By the end of the exercise, staff are expected to return to their respective units fully equipped to lead the FY2026 planning process, ensure coherence between operational activities and strategic priorities, and contribute to the LRA’s pursuit of improved revenue performance and institutional excellence.
