IPNEWS: Journalist in Liberia will on today, Monday, January 6, 2025, laid to rest one of their prominent colleagues, the late Zoom Dosso.
According to Family sources, the late Zoom Dosso will be taken from the ELWA Hospital at 10 a.m. on Monday, January 6, 2025, and taken to the Kaiser Memorial Lawn Cemetery for burial in Brewerville City, for interment.
In a statement issued by the Press Union of Liberia over the passing of Zoom Dosso, the Union paid special tribute to fallen journalist, describing his role in Liberian journalism as significant and exceptional.
A bilingual journalist of Ivorian origins, Dosso was a highly respected media practitioner in Liberia who became a regular and prominent voice of news reporting in French and English since the early 1990s.
The PUL says the death of journalist Dosso, aged 62, on Thursday, January 2, 2025, came as a shock to the journalism and media community of Liberia, especially at the turn of the new year.
For over three decades, journalist Dosso dedicated his life to the practice of journalism with professionalism, leaving behind a legacy of quality reporting on the Liberian civil war, post-conflict transition, democratic peace and national development.
Notably, he worked as Liberia Correspondent for international media entities such as Radio France International (RFI) and the French Press Agency (Agence France Presse – AFP).
Dosso launched his career in journalism in the early 1990s with the erstwhile Liberia Communications Network (LCN) which operated Radio Liberia International, Kiss FM, LCN–TV and Patriot Newspaper.
During a visit at the residence of the Dosso at Rehad Community in Paynesville, PUL President Julius Kanubah, along with scores of media practitioners, expressed condolences to the family of journalist Dosso, informing them that he was an esteemed member of the Press Union of Liberia.
Several prominent media practitioners including colleagues of journalist Dosso such as PUL former President Geroge Barpeen, Francis Lloyd, Jerry Cephas, Foday Massaquoi, Joel Jacobs, Solo Williams, and Mathew Jacobs, were also at the residence of the Dosso to express their sympathy.
The wife of journalist Dosso, Mrs Ophelia Leigh Dosso, thanked the PUL and its membership for being with them in these difficult times, announcing that her husband will be buried on Monday, January 6, 2025, at the KAISER Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Brewerville City, after funeral rites by the Muslim community.
The PUL is asking all journalists and media practitioners to join the family in giving journalist Dosso a befitting burial at 10 a.m on January 6, 2025.
