IPNEWS: The Ministry of Transport’s Assistant Minister for Land and Rail Transport, Honourable Zunu K. Duyann, recently delivered a powerful message to motorcyclists in Bong County. During a one-day road safety training held on February 19, 2025, in Gbarngba, Bong County, Minister Duyann underscored the importance of adopting safety protocols to ensure the well-being of all road users.

The event, organized by the Ministry of Transport, brought together a large number of motorcyclists who received valuable lessons on road safety, traffic regulations, and defensive driving techniques. Minister Duyann expressed deep concern over the rising number of road accidents involving motorcyclists and called on participants to take the training seriously and apply it in their daily operations.

“We cannot stress enough the importance of safety on our roads,” Minister Duyann remarked. “Motorcyclists play a vital role in our transportation network, but their safety must be a priority. This training is a crucial step toward preventing accidents, saving lives, and ensuring a safer environment for all road users.”

During the session, experts from the Ministry of Transport, alongside traffic officers, shared vital information regarding the safe handling of motorcycles, the importance of wearing helmets, obeying traffic laws, and how to navigate busy streets effectively. The training also included practical demonstrations and interactive discussions, giving the motorcyclists the opportunity to ask questions and clarify doubts.

Minister Duyann emphasized that the road safety training was part of a broader government initiative to improve infrastructure and promote safer driving habits throughout Liberia. He highlighted that road safety is a shared responsibility, urging motorcyclists not only to implement the lessons learned but also to act as ambassadors of road safety in their communities.

“The goal is not just to provide knowledge but to encourage a culture of road safety across Liberia,” Minister Duyann continued. “By taking these lessons to heart, motorcyclists can contribute to reducing road accidents and make Liberia’s roads safer for everyone.”

In his closing remarks, Honorable Zunu K. Duyann commended the motorcyclists for their participation in the training and called on them to spread the message of road safety beyond Bong County. The event was hailed as an important milestone in Liberia’s commitment to addressing the challenges of road safety, particularly with the rapid growth of motorcycle transportation across the country.

As the country moves forward, the Ministry of Transport remains dedicated to ensuring that road safety is prioritized at all levels. With the support of local communities and the engagement of motorcyclists like those in Bong County, Liberia can look forward to safer, more efficient roads for years to come.
