IPNEWS: The House of Representatives of Liberia’s 55th National Legislature on Friday held a diplomatic engagement with members of the international community accredited to the country, aimed at strengthening cooperation and enhancing dialogue on issues of mutual interest.
The engagement, organized by the House Committee on Foreign Affairs of Liberia in consultation with the Speaker, Richard Nagbe Koon, brought together lawmakers and representatives of the diplomatic corps including United States Ambassador Mark C. Toner and Chinese Ambassador Yin Chengwu at the Capitol Building in Monrovia.
According to the House Authorities, the meeting was intended to foster stronger relationships between Liberia’s legislative branch and its international partners while providing a platform for open discussion on governance, development cooperation, and diplomatic collaboration.
During the engagement, members of the diplomatic community shared perspectives on Liberia’s development priorities and reiterated their commitment to supporting the country’s democratic institutions and socio-economic progress.
Lawmakers also used the occasion to highlight the critical role of international partnerships in advancing Liberia’s development agenda, particularly in areas such as infrastructure, governance, health, and education.
Speaker Koon emphasized the importance of maintaining constructive engagement with Liberia’s global partners, noting that diplomacy and cooperation remain vital to the country’s progress.
The meeting formed part of ongoing efforts by the House leadership to deepen diplomatic ties and ensure sustained collaboration between Liberia and its international partners.
