Monrovia, Liberia – January 10, 2026 – The Managing Director of the Liberia Petroleum Refining Company (LPRC), Hon. Amos B. Tweh, has officially dedicated a newly refurbished and well-furnished market in Logan Town, Bushrod Island, reaffirming his commitment to grassroots development and economic empowerment.

The Logan Town Market project is one of several community-focused initiatives undertaken by Hon. Tweh in Logan Town and other neighboring communities. In early 2025, he similarly dedicated several water catchment facilities that continue to provide safe drinking water to residents.

Speaking on behalf of the marketeers, Madam Louis Kun commended Hon. Tweh for the initiative, describing the project as timely and impactful. She expressed delight over the improved market conditions and called on her colleagues to take collective responsibility for maintaining the facility.

Delivering remarks during the dedication ceremony, the Deputy Managing Director for Operations, Hon. Eric Ceekay Sayee, disclosed that LPRC provided 50 percent of the funds for the renovation, while the remaining 50 percent was personally financed by the Managing Director, who is a prominent son of the Logan Town community.

Beyond the physical renovation, Hon. Tweh also announced the provision of an interest-free loan totaling LRD 500,000 (equivalent to approximately US$3,000) to the marketeers. The loan, he explained, is intended strictly for economic empowerment, with no interest attached, to help traders strengthen and expand their businesses.

In his remarks, Hon. Tweh described the initiative as a gesture of gratitude and service to his people. “This is my way of giving back to the community that nurtured me,” he said, adding that the project aligns with President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development, particularly its emphasis on sanitation and improved public spaces.

“When we provide a clean and decent market for our mothers to sell, we are contributing directly to the President’s vision and making him proud,” Hon. Tweh emphasized.

Community members and marketeers welcomed the initiative, describing it as a meaningful blend of infrastructure development and economic empowerment that will positively impact livelihoods in Logan Town and its surrounding.
