IPNEWS: For some time now it had been rumored of a plan by some lawmakers to remove the current leadership of the House of Representative under the leadership of Montserrado County Representative Richard Koon.
However, Deputy Speaker Fallah affirmed that Speaker Richard Nagbe Koon continues to enjoy his full confidence and the support of legislative colleagues.
Fallah characterized claims of a legislative scheme to oust him and the Speaker as misinformation and “speculation” intended to mislead the public.
While acknowledging internal challenges like salary payment issues, he stated there is no formal resolution or plan for removal.
The rumors surfaced in late December 2025, suggesting at least 22 lawmakers had met to draft a 10-count resolution seeking the removal of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker over allegations of poor leadership and financial malpractices.
The House has faced ongoing leadership disputes; in mid-2025, the Supreme Court ruled the previous election of Richard Koon as Speaker invalid before he was eventually seated. As of early January 2026, some aggrieved lawmakers had threatened to boycott the upcoming State of the Nation Address (SONA).
