Monday, A high-level team from the U.S. Government’s Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) will arrive in Liberia today, Monday, September 22, 2025, for an official mission to aimed at assessing Liberia’s preparedness for reaffirmation of eligibility for a potential second MCC Compact.

The team which is expected in country today will led by Ms. Carrie Monahan, Managing Director for Africa at MCC.

She is accompanied by a team of senior experts, including Deidre Fair, Director of Finance and Trade; Steve Anderson, Economist; Peter Glick, Economist; Sophia Marcus, Economist; Sheena Cooper, Finance and Trade Specialist; and Arif Mamun, Deputy Vice President for the Economic Analysis Division.

This visit marks a major turning proint for Liberia quest for basic social services which this compact first grant provided.

Certainly, Ms. Monahan and team visit means so much to Liberians and hope that this visit and findings pave way for a resounding approval at the Board’s next meeting in December.

We remain optimistic that If Liberia succeeds in getting this compact, it would create job opportunities, expand the economy, revitalize some major sectors among others.
