IPNEWS: The Ministry of Justice, under the leadership of Justice Minister Cllr. N. Oswald Tweh, has reported a strong performance by its prosecution team during the May 2026 Term of Court, securing dozens of convictions across criminal cases prosecuted before courts in Liberia.
According to the Ministry, prosecutors took a total of 99 cases to trial during the term. Of that number, 77 cases resulted in convictions, while 11 cases ended in acquittals and another 11 resulted in hung juries.
The Ministry said the results demonstrate the continued efforts of its prosecution team to represent the Republic of Liberia and pursue criminal cases through the judicial system. The performance also highlights the role of prosecutors in advancing criminal justice and ensuring that cases brought before the courts are properly litigated.
The 77 convictions represent the majority of cases brought to trial during the term, reflecting what the Ministry described as a significant level of success by prosecutors across the country. Meanwhile, the acquittals and hung juries underscore the varied outcomes that can arise during judicial proceedings.
The Ministry of Justice has meanwhile commended its prosecutors for their dedication, professionalism, and commitment throughout the May 2026 Term of Court. It said their efforts remain critical to the effective administration of justice and the enforcement of Liberia’s laws.
