    Gov’t Released US$248,000 to LFA For Tunisia and Malawi Qualifiers

    The Government of Liberia has released US$248,000 to the Liberia Football Association (LFA) in support of the Lone Star’s upcoming qualifiers against Tunisia and Malawi. The announcement was made today by Mr. Mustapha Raji, President of the LFA, bringing relief and renewed hope for the national team’s preparations.

    iN mARCH 2024, President Joseph N. Boakai Snr. Pledge to Propel Liberian Sports to New Heights.

    The Minister of Youth and Sports, Cllr Jeror Cole Bangalu along with the Deputy and Assistant Ministers of Sports G. Andy Quamie and Murvee Gray made the case for the National Team of Liberia to be supported as they take on Djibouti on March 20, 2024, when they met with President Boakai on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at the Executive Mansion.

    President Boakai reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the Liberia national team and the Djibouti landscape of sports development in the nation.

    President Boakai articulated his profound belief in the transformative power of sports a force capable of transcending boundaries, uniting communities, and igniting the flames of national pride.

    In his impassioned address to the Minister and his team, he underscored the pivotal role that athletics play in shaping the fabric of Liberian society.

    As the discussion unfolded, President Boakai outlined a bold vision for the future of Liberian sports one characterized by excellence, inclusivity, and opportunity for all.

    Central to this vision was his pledge to provide unflinching support to the Liberia national team, equipping them with the resources and infrastructure necessary to compete on the global stage with confidence and conviction.

    Moreover, President Boakai’s commitment extended far beyond the confines of elite competition, he recognized the critical importance of investing in grassroots sports, where talents are nurtured, dreams take root, and the seeds of future champions are sown.

    The Liberian President emphasized that during the national county sports meet each county must provide players from their county as the way of enhancing the talent and productivity of young player. 

    The President promised to channel significant resources into grassroots sports programs, by building sports facilities in every county ensuring that every Liberian child has the opportunity to unlock their athletic potential.

    During the meeting, the Liberia Football Association President, Mustapha Raji presented the budget for the Lone Star match with Djibouti on March 20/26, 2024. President Boakai pledged his unflinching support to the national team, As the meeting drew to a close, a palpable sense of optimism permeated the air, President Boakai’s words had ignited a spark of hope, of possibility, of a brighter future for Liberian sports.

    With his leadership guiding the way, the Liberia national team is poised to soar to unprecedented heights, while grassroots athletes across the nation will be empowered to chase their dreams with unwavering determination and resolve.

    In President Boakai’s pledge lay not just a promise, but a steadfast commitment to propel Liberian sports into a glorious new era.
