IPNEWS: The Liberia National Police (LNP) officially charged five young men in connection with the alleged gang rape of a 21-year-old woman in Voinjama District, Lofa County.

The alleged assault occurred at approximately 2:22 p.m. on January 1, 2026, in Zurzumai Town.

The victim reported she was attending a New Year’s Day dance event when she was lured to a secluded area by the group. She was then allegedly taken to a nearby house owned by an individual identified as Amos Kokulah, where the assault took place.

The LNP’s Women and Children Protection Section (WACPS) identified four of the five suspects as:

    • James Y. Kollie (18)
    • Albert Thomas (21)
    • Prince Junior (18)
    • Guwor Kollieson (17)

A fifth suspect is also in custody but was not initially named in all reports.

The victim received medical treatment at Tellewoyan Memorial Hospital, where findings supported the ongoing investigation. All five suspects have been formally charged with rape and are currently detained at the LNP facility in Voinjama City awaiting court proceedings.
