IPNEWS: Her Excellency, First Lady Kartumu Yarta Boakai, on Thursday, October 23, received the UN Development Program (UNDP) Country Representative, Mr. Aliou Mamadou Dia, at her Executive Mansion office, in a meeting that solidified a new collaborative partnership.

The courtesy call, following an initial engagement at the 80th UN General Assembly in New York, focused on aligning the Office of the First Lady’s initiatives with UNDP’s strategic support for the national development agenda.

Mr. Dia reiterated UNDP’s firm commitment to the government’s priorities, highlighting key interventions in health, including the renovation of the Tellewion Hospital and plans to deploy mobile clinics in Lofa County, as well as youth and women empowerment programs like the Growth Accelerator Program.

The First Lady expressed her appreciation for UNDP’s ongoing work and detailed her office’s grassroots projects, such as the renovation of the Gertrude Yancy Public School in Bomi County and the construction of a maternal health facility in Leilei, Bong County, aimed at tackling critical challenges in education and healthcare.

A key outcome of the meeting was the agreement to formalize collaboration. The two institutions will work to identify and support specific, high-impact projects.

This partnership marks a significant step towards leveraging international cooperation to amplify the development efforts led by the Office of the First Lady for the benefit of all Liberians.
