Monrovia – The Center for Transparency and Accountability in Liberia (CENTAL) has welcomed officials from the Embassy of Sweden in Monrovia during an acquaintance and coordination meeting held at its offices.
The delegation included Carl-Henrik Olalson Jacobsson, Program Officer, and Nisam Shaverdiun, Intern, who met with CENTAL’s leadership and program team to discuss ways of deepening collaboration under the National Integrity Building and Anti-Corruption (NIBA) Program. The initiative is funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA).
According to CENTAL, the engagement was intended to strengthen information sharing, planning, and reflection on the program’s progress—highlighting key achievements, challenges, lessons learned, and future steps.
Speaking at the gathering, CENTAL’s Executive Director, Anderson D. Miamen, commended SIDA for its consistent support to Liberia’s anti-corruption efforts. He stressed that such partnerships remain critical in advancing transparency and accountability across the country.
For his part, Program Manager, Atty. Gerald D. Yeakula, outlined some of the program’s major achievements, pointing to its role in promoting integrity and fostering civic engagement. Team leads from various program components also presented updates on their respective interventions.
The visit, CENTAL noted, further cements the longstanding partnership between the institution and SIDA, while reaffirming their joint commitment to promoting good governance and the fight against corruption in Liberia. By: Alex Determine Juah
