Voinjama, Lofa County: The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) Lofa Detachment has arrested a Liberian national for allegedly trafficking a significant quantity of the controlled substance Tramadol into the country.

The suspect, identified as 30-year-old Blessing William, a caterer by profession and resident of Johnsonville, Monrovia, was apprehended on Thursday, November 21, 2025, at approximately 7:30 a.m. in the Voinjama–Monrovia parking area.

According to LDEA authorities, William was intercepted with 839 packs and two strips of Tramadol, a pharmaceutical drug classified under Liberia’s revised drug law as a controlled narcotic. The consignment is estimated to have a street value of LRD 8,394,000, or about USD 46,633.33.

LDEA officers have launched an investigation into the matter, while the suspect remains in custody pending formal court proceedings.

The agency emphasized that the fight against illicit drugs requires strong community support and cooperation, urging the public to report any suspicious activity to help law enforcement disrupt narcotics networks throughout the country.

The arrest marks another step in the LDEA’s heightened efforts to crack down on drug trafficking across Liberia, particularly in border and transit regions. By: Andrew B Weah ,0770637316/0886429103,andrewbweah@gmail.com
