IPNEWS: Deputy Minister for Commerce and Trade at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry has announced a series of transformative digital initiatives aimed at strengthening Liberia’s trade environment and improving the ease of doing business, while humbly accepting an award in recognition of his contributions to national development.

Speaking at a recognition ceremony organized by Excellent Media Incorporated, the Deputy Minister disclosed plans to introduce a Trade Information Portal, a digital platform designed to provide investors and business operators with reliable, sector-specific data to support informed decision-making. He said the portal will serve as a critical tool for both domestic and foreign investors seeking to do business in Liberia.

In furtherance of the government’s digital transformation agenda, the Deputy Minister also revealed ongoing efforts to establish a National Single Window, a joint initiative of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the Liberia Revenue Authority, in collaboration with other key sector institutions. Once operational, the system is expected to streamline trade procedures, reduce delays, and enhance efficiency across government agencies involved in trade facilitation.

As part of the broader reform drive, he announced that the Liberia Business Registry (LBR), under the leadership of its Director General, is set to go fully online through a World Bank funded project. According to him, the digitalization of the LBR will significantly reduce bureaucratic bottlenecks, improve transparency, and enhance the overall ease of doing business for entrepreneurs and investors.

Attributing recent achievements in the commerce and trade sector to strong teamwork and visionary leadership, the Deputy Minister said progress at the Ministry is the result of collective effort rather than individual accomplishment. He praised the leadership of the Minister of Commerce and Industry, Hon. Magdalene Dagoseh, noting that her guidance has kept the Ministry focused on delivering measurable results.

“I consider it an honor and a privilege to serve as Deputy Minister for Commerce and Trade,” he said. “This recognition is humbling, and it reflects the hard work of an entire team committed to implementing the vision of His Excellency, President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr.”

The Deputy Minister emphasized that the Ministry’s work aligns directly with the ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development, particularly its first pillar on economic transformation. He noted that the Ministry of Commerce and Industry plays a central role in expanding Liberia’s private sector and creating an enabling business environment through effective collaboration with other government institutions.

He further highlighted the launch of the Ministry’s five-year strategic plan as a major milestone, describing it as a comprehensive roadmap designed to accelerate private sector growth. Key interventions under the plan include trade facilitation reforms and the digitization of essential services to improve efficiency and competitiveness.

Reiterating the importance of unity, the Deputy Minister commended the collaborative efforts of the Ministry’s four core departments Commerce and Trade, Industry, Small Business Administration, and Administration which, he said, continue to work in harmony under the Minister’s leadership to deliver tangible outcomes.

Concluding his remarks, the Deputy Minister expressed gratitude to Excellent Media Incorporated for the recognition and reaffirmed his commitment to serving Liberia with diligence and integrity.

“I am truly grateful for this honor,” he said. “We remain committed to advancing commerce, trade, and industry for the sustained growth and prosperity of our nation.” Commerce Ministry Unveils Digital Trade Reforms as Deputy Minister Receives National Development Award
