IPNEWS: A 12-member jury sitting before Criminal Court “C” has delivered a unanimous guilty verdict against two former officials of the Liberia Institute of Statistics and Geo-Information Services (LISGIS) for their roles in the misappropriation of funds meant for the 2022 National Population and Housing Census.‎

‎Dominic Paye, former Comptroller, and Lawrence George, former Deputy Director General for Administration, were found guilty on all six charges, including financial misconduct and abuse of public trust.‎

‎The verdict follows a thorough investigation by the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC), which presented evidence of unlawful financial practices and procurement irregularities. The LACC established to fight corruption and promote good governance, has been vocal about censuring accountability in public service.‎

‎LACC Public Relation Officer, Deanna W. Seakor in the commission release reaffirmed their commitment to accountability and the rule of law.‎

‎The case highlights the government of Liberia efforts to tackle corruption and ensure that public funds are used for their intended purposes.
