IPNEWS: The Representative of Montserrado County District #2, Sekou S. Kanneh, has made a significant donation of cash and building materials to the Liberia National Police (LNP) in support of the reconstruction of the City View Police Station, located in Johnsonville, Zone 9, Depot 4.

The City View Police Station, originally constructed in 2014 through a Quick Impact Project of the United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) during the administration of former President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, was severely damaged by fire on December 23, 2025. Since the incident, police officers assigned to the depot have been operating under extremely difficult conditions, limiting their capacity to effectively serve the community.

In response to the unfortunate incident, Hon. Kanneh intervened with a donation of US$500 to cover workmanship costs, along with a substantial supply of construction materials aimed at fast-tracking the rebuilding process. The donated items include:

50 pieces of ½-inch steel rods

15 pieces of ¼-inch steel rods

    2 bundles of tie wire

    100 bags of cement

    2,000 pieces of bricks

    15 pieces of wawa planks

    1 load of rough sand

    1 load of smooth sand

    1 load of crushed rock

    2 wheelbarrows

    4 shovels

The donation is intended to accelerate the reconstruction of the police station and restore effective policing services to residents of Johnsonville and surrounding communities.

Speaking on behalf of the Liberia National Police, A/O Stephen D. Sayee of Zone 9 and its depots expressed profound appreciation to Hon. Kanneh for his timely and thoughtful support. He described the intervention as a major boost to the morale of police officers and a clear demonstration of genuine concern for public safety and security.

At the time of the fire outbreak, the City View Police Station had twelve police officers assigned, including Inspector James M. Kpan, who serves as the Depot Commander. The station plays a vital role in maintaining law and order within the Johnsonville community, making its restoration a matter of urgent importance.

Community members and police officers alike have praised Hon. Kanneh for his leadership, responsiveness, and commitment to strengthening security infrastructure in Montserrado County District #2. Many residents expressed optimism that the reconstruction of the station will enhance police response time and significantly improve safety in the area.

Reconstruction efforts are expected to commence immediately, as all donated materials have already been delivered to the site, signaling a swift return of full policing operations to City View.
