Hypocrisy on display:  ‘Thief-5’ Becomes Angel of Light

IPNEWS:  Before coming to power, the Unity Party regarded, Deputy Speaker Thomas Fallah, as ‘Thief-5”, including other names such as ‘State Looter’ among others.

With two years into its government, Thomas Fallah, is now rebranded as ‘ a man of Integrity’, by the Unity Party Standard Bearer President Joseph Boakai.

Following the pledged to support President Boakai, Representative Thomas Fallah, once branded as a “thief-5” and ‘state looter’ by partisans of the Unity Party (UP) has  now become a man of integrity, substance and value, because he has formally pledged to President Joseph Nyumah Boakai during its fundraising rally in Congo Town over the weekend.

A once staunch and loyal confidant of former President George Weah, Fallah, navigated through the corridors of the Legislature for nearly 20 years was relentless and unapologetic with his words condemning the Unity Party flagbearer  during the days of the ruling CDC.

The two hardly coexisted, especially so when Fallah moved to Foya, the President’s hometown, campaigned and extended his Representative role on Capitol Hill.

At the rally in Congo Town aimed at raising over US$2 million dollars for the purchase of the building the Unity Party was once evicted from for inability to pay rent, Fallah showed up and, did not only declare his support to Boakai, his kinsman but also led a group of lawmakers and former lawmakers to join the Unity Party.

Fallah argued that his desire to support Boakai and the Unity Party today is simply based on the President’s productive leadership which is leading the country in the right direction.

“Before there was any political party, there was Liberia; before any of us here came into being, there was Liberia,” he said, justifying that his action is based on support for national development rather than party loyalty.

Fallah fell apart with the former ruling Congress for Democratic Change when he supported the removal of Cllr. J. Fonati Koffa from post of Speaker of the House of Representatives.

For payback, Fallah has tied  his relationship since with the President and began initiating projects in Lofa with the Liberian leader recognized at every level, something that was not done before when Fallah earlier moved to Foya prior to the 2023 elections.

He presented to the UP-executive leadership Representative Sumo Mulbah of Montserrado District #3, Representative Prince Koinah of Bong County, Alex Grant of River Cess County and Austin B. Taylor of Maryland County District #2 as recruits-later granting them the full membership into the Unity Party fraternity. Others also joining the Unity Party Saturday was Solomon George, the former CDC lawmaker of Montserrado District #7, and closed ally of former President Goerge Weah.

Introducing Fallah on the stage, Mo Ali, a onetime uncompromising critic of the lawmaker said Fallah is a ‘man of integrity, honesty and value’-emphasizing that the lawmaker is an asset welcomed to the UP family.

However, in a swift reaction, an Executive member of the Unity Party, Former Montserrado Superintendent Grace Kpaan publicly Caution Deputy Speaker Thomas Fallah, among other individuals move to the Unity Party.

In September 2025, Kpaan reportedly called Fallah a “corruption King Kong” and a “destroyer,” vowing to campaign against him in future elections, including the 2029 polls.

Speaking on Punch FM, Kpaan labeled Thomas Fallah as “corrupt beyond imagination”. She claimed his presence in any political setting is “dangerous to the survivability of such setting”.

The former Montserrado County Superintendent warned the Unity Party (UP) leadership to be aware of him, as he is an agent of President Boakai being used to “destroy” the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) party.

These statements came amidst significant political shifts, where Fallah, a long-time member of the CDC, has been seen aligning with the ruling Unity Party leadership and President Joseph Boakai. His actions have led to calls for his expulsion from the CDC, with many partisans echoing Kpaan’s sentiments of “betrayal” and political opportunism.

While all this were happening in Monrovia, the opposition CDC and CMC were out in Grand Bassa, Bong and Nimba counties holding separate rallies.

In Grand Bassa county, Former House Speaker Fonati Kofa Label Unity Party Governance as Authoritarian, while Margibi Senator Nathaniel McGill Challenged President Joseph Boakai to Resign and Enter New Presidential Election Against President George Weah.

The Former House Speaker Fonati Kofa described the governance of Liberia under the Unity Party as the Adolph Hitler style of governance who hoped to govern Germany for 2,000 years.

He claimed that the Unity Party is the progenitor of the True Wing Party, which governed Liberia under one-party system for almost 150, through discrimination.

Speaking at the fund-raising program organized by the Grand Bassa County Chapter of the Congress for Democratic Change in Buchanan during the weekend, Representative Kofa alleged that he was told by a ranking member of the Unity Party that they want to govern Liberia for the next 200 years.

According to Representative Kofa, the CDC will never sit idly and allow these people, who sole objective is to retain power endlessly, to happen in 2029 presidential and legislative elections.

Meanwhile, Margibi County Senator Nathaniel McGill has again threw out a challenge to the Unity Party-led government for them to resign and enter into a new presidential election against President George Weah.

He said he will also be willing to step down as senator of Margibi County as long the Unity Party is willing to resign and give the National Elections Commission three months to conduct a new presidential election in Liberia.

Senator McGill threw out the challenge when he was honored and gowned by the Bong County chapter of the Congress for Democratic Change in Gbarnga during the weekend.

According to Senator McGill, the Unity Party-led government has not made any significant development since power a little over two years now but only claiming what the CDC –led government initiated.

Meanwhile, the  Liberia Council of Churches has Urge the  Government of Liberia to Deny Permits for Peaceful Protests During Festive Season to Ensure Public Safety

The Liberia Council of Churches calls on the Liberian government not to give permission to any civil society organization or pressure group including STAND headed by former CDC Chairman Mulbah K. Morlu, to peaceful protest in any part of the country during this festive season.

LCC’s Secretary General, Reverend Doctor, Christopher Toe, disclosed that most of the urban areas are over-crowded with people going about their normal businesses for the festive and there is no need for disruption.

Addressing a press conference held in Monrovia during the weekend, Reverend Doctor Toe, called on the Solidarity and Trust for A New Day to postpone its planned protest scheduled for December 17th at the road between the Executive Mansion and the capitol Building in Monrovia.

The Liberia Council of Churches Secretary General added that the December is characterized by many activities including such selling, crusade and people in search for money for festive seasons.
