–As Sierra Leone Chief Visits Liberia
IPNEWS: The Liberia National Police (LNP) yesterday Monday December 1, officially welcomed a high-level Sierra Leone Police (SLP) delegation, for a five-day engagement focused on strengthening bilateral security cooperation.
The visit is a reciprocal engagement following a recent mission by LNP Inspector General (IGP) Gregory O. W. Coleman to Sierra Leone earlier this year. The goal is to operationalize a shared commitment to enhance security along their shared border and within the Mano River Union (MRU) region.
The visiting Sierra Leonean delegation includes:
- AIG John Martin Senesie – Director of Operations and Head of the Delegation
- AIG Brima Kanneh – Commander, Freetown East
- AIG Andrew Mustapha Kamara – Commander, Freetown South
The five-day engagement aims to translate previous discussions into concrete actions, focusing on:
- Border Security: Improving strategies for a safe and secure shared border.
- Operational Collaboration: Enhancing patrol operations and communication between the two forces.
- Tackling Cross-Border Crime: Collaborating on responses to challenges like trafficking, smuggling, and organized crime.
- Experience Sharing: Exchanging practical, day-to-day operational knowledge and insights into their respective policing systems.
On the first day, the SLP delegation was given a tour of key LNP facilities, including the Operational Control Room, Broadcasting Unit, and Emergency Response Unit, providing insight into the LNP’s structure and capacity.
Both police institutions have recognized many shared features in their systems despite slight organizational differences and are committed to mutual learning and professional development. The visit is expected to result in a stronger, more coordinated approach to regional security, benefiting both nations
