IPNEWS:Montserrado County Senator Abe Darius Dillon has sounded a troubling alarm, declaring that his life is now under serious threat as political tensions between him and Labor Minister Cllr. Cooper Kruah continue to escalate.
Speaking publicly on the matter, Senator Dillon alleged that supporters of the Movement for Democracy and Reconstruction (MDR), the political party of Minister Kruah, are deliberately twisting his oversight responsibilities at the Ministry of Labor into a dangerous regional confrontation.
According to the Senator, his scrutiny of labor administration, particularly the issuance of work permits has been framed as a targeted attack on Nimba County, where Minister Kruah hails from. Dillon insists his actions are strictly in line with the Senate’s constitutional oversight mandate and have nothing to do with county loyalty or ethnic bias.
“My role is to ensure accountability in government institutions. To now turn that into a tribal fight or make it appear that I am against Nimba people is reckless and dangerous,” Dillon stated.
The situation reportedly intensified when Minister Kruah publicly accused Dillon of harboring sentiments against Nimbaians. The Senator noted that since that accusation, hostile rhetoric and misinformation have surged across public platforms.
He also expressed grave concern over what he described as a “deadly falsehood” a Ministry of Labor official linking him to the death of a late Nimba senator. Dillon condemned the allegation as life-threatening and irresponsible, pointing to rising security fears as supporters of Minister Kruah amplify the claim.
Dillon has written the Liberian Senate, calling for immediate intervention to stop the spread of misinformation and to prevent the political disagreement from inflaming regional divides.
“This is no longer just politics. These lies are putting my life at risk and threatening national peace. The leadership of the Senate must act,” he urged.
Analysts warn that such political tensions, if not carefully managed, could reopen wounds tied to Liberia’s history of regional and ethnic division, a concern echoed by the Senator.
As of press time, Minister Kruah and the MDR have not issued an official response to the latest allegations.
Meanwhile, a spokesman for the Movement for Democracy and Reconstruction (MDR), identified as the MDR Youth League, on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, “lashed out” at Senator Abraham Darius Dillon, accusing him of a “smear campaign” against Labor Minister Cooper Kruah Sr. and making “life-threatening” allegations.
The conflict stems from Senator Dillon’s legislative oversight of work permit reforms at the Ministry of Labor, which the MDR claims he has twisted into a personal and politically motivated attack targeting their leadership.
The MDR representative, during a local radio appearance, launched a scathing attack, branding Senator Dillon as “hateful,” “a sadist,” and “malevolent”. The party specifically accuses Dillon of Waging a personal fight against Labor Minister Cooper Kruah, who is also the MDR National Chairman; Making “unfounded” claims about the issuance of 20,000 work permits under Minister Kruah, and Provoking key MDR figures and potentially inciting hostility and ethnic bias, particularly against the people of Nimba County.
