IPNEWS: The Asset Recovery and Property Retrieval Taskforce—AREPT—has condemned what it calls a barbaric assault on one of its staff members.

The incident reportedly involved businessman Marwolo Jallah, owner of Zest Group of Business Incorporated, a company currently under investigation by the Taskforce.

According to AREPT, the staffer was attacked while attempting to serve Mr. Jallah with an official letter, naming him a person of interest in an ongoing corruption probe. The Taskforce says Jallah detained the employee against his will and physically assaulted him.

The matter was quickly reported to the Liberia National Police. Authorities confirmed that the suspect has been taken into custody at Zone 8 Police Station.

AREPT described the attack as not only a crime against its employee, but also a direct assault on Liberia’s fight against corruption. The Taskforce warned that any attempt to obstruct its work will face decisive legal action.

In its statement, AREPT reaffirmed its commitment to tracing and recovering stolen public assets, saying it remains strong and unwavering in its mission. The Taskforce also thanked the police for their swift response and urged the public to continue supporting efforts to promote accountability and transparency in Liberia.
