IPNEWS: President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has, with immediate effect, dismissed the suspended Superintendent of the Monrovia Consolidated School System (MCSS), Mr. James A.S. Momo, following an investigative report by the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) that found him liable for multiple acts of corruption and criminal misconduct.
Mr. Momo had been suspended earlier this year to allow the LACC to conduct a full-scale probe into allegations of irregularities within the school system’s administration. The Commission’s final report indicates he was engaged in a series of violations, including:
• Breach of Public Procurement and Concessions Commission (PPCC) regulations
• Extortion
• Abuse of office
• Criminal conspiracy
• Illicit involvement in contract awarding
According to the LACC, the actions of the dismissed MCSS Superintendent amounted to corruption and criminal collusion, undermining accountability and integrity within the education sector.
In response to the findings, President Boakai has mandated Mr. Momo to immediately turn over all government assets and properties in his possession to the Acting Superintendent of the MCSS.
Furthermore, the President has instructed Mr. Momo to present himself to the Ministry of Justice for prosecution in line with Liberian anti-corruption laws and ongoing reform efforts aimed at restoring public confidence in governance systems.
The decision underscores the Boakai administration’s zero-tolerance stance on corruption and its commitment to strengthening transparency and accountability across all government institutions.
As the legal process takes its course, the government has assured the public that it remains fully committed to ensuring that corruption cases are addressed without fear or favor. By: Andrew B Weah, 0770637216/0886429103, andrewbweah@gmail.com
