IPNEWS: The Government of Liberia, through the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), is set to unveil the Natural Capital Atlas of Liberia—a groundbreaking publication and immersive documentary—at COP30 in Belém, Brazil.

Developed in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Forestry Development Authority, the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs & Tourism, and consultants from International Focus (IF) Magazine, the Atlas is a data-driven tool that showcases Liberia’s rich biodiversity, ecosystem services, and potential for sustainable tourism and investment.

Led by EPA Executive Director Dr. Emmanuel K. Urey Yarkpawolo, the initiative combines scientific data, community knowledge, and visual storytelling to promote conservation, green investment, and climate action.

It aligns with Liberia’s commitments under the Paris Agreement, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the ARREST Agenda.

On November 10, 2025, at Liberia’s Pavilion at COP30 in Brazil, the Government will officially launch two key instruments:

    • Liberia’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) 3.0 and
    • The Natural Capital Atlas of Liberia

This strategic launch aims to elevate Liberia’s environmental profile, attract climate finance, and foster global partnerships for conservation and sustainable development.

The Atlas is complemented by a high-quality documentary titled: “Liberia: The Natural Beauty and Wonders – A Crown for the World. COP30 and Beyond.”

This visual narrative captures Liberia’s breathtaking landscapes and biodiversity, positioning the country as a global leader in conservation and sustainable development.

The objectives of the Initiative are to attract foreign investment, promote eco-tourism, and reinforce Liberia’s commitment to sustainable resource management

Hon. Dehpue Y. Zuo, Deputy Minister for Economic Management at the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning, will lead a high-level delegation to COP30. The Atlas and documentary will be presented to world leaders, climate advocates, and investors.

The launch event highlights excerpts from the documentary, showcases the Atlas, and features panel discussions with key stakeholders and international partners

This marks a historic moment for Liberia—signaling a renewed vision for environmental stewardship and a bold step forward on the global climate stage.

    About the Atlas
The Natural Capital Atlas of Liberia captures the country’s diverse ecosystems—from lush rainforests and vibrant wildlife to river systems and geological formations.

It serves as both a conservation tool and an open invitation to the world to explore and invest in Liberia’s natural wealth—responsibly and sustainably.
