IPNEWS: The Joint Committee on Gender, Internal Affairs, and Judiciary of the House of Representatives will on this Wednesday, October 29, at 12:00 noon, commence consultations with civil society organizations (CSOs) and stakeholders as part of ongoing efforts to review the draft bill seeking to ban harmful cultural practices, including Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), in Liberia.

The consultation will take place in the first-floor conference room of the Capitol Building.

According to the committeeโ€™s schedule, traditional leaders from across Liberia will participate in a follow-up consultation on Thursday, October 30, to share their perspectives and recommendations on the draft legislation.

The Joint Committee, chaired by Bong County Electoral District #6, Representative Hon. Moima Briggs-Mensah has reaffirmed its commitment to conducting a comprehensive and inclusive review process, ensuring that all stakeholders are involved in shaping the final version of this critical bill.

The media is encouraged to provide full coverage of these consultations to help the Liberian people stay informed about how their leaders are engaging in discussions on this important national issue.
