Reverend Alphonso Dean has criticized Liberia’s political leadership from its founding to the present, declaring that “the leaders of Liberia from the Joseph of 1847 to the Joseph of 2025 all of them failed us.”
Rev. Dean made the remarks over the weekend at the first national convention of the Liberia Alternative People’s Party (LAPP), held in Monrovia.
The newly established party is led by George Wesseh Blamoh, former Minister of State for Presidential Affairs under ex-President George Weah.
Addressing delegates and supporters, Rev. Dean said Liberia has suffered from decades of misrule, corruption, and unfulfilled promises, adding that the country now needs a new kind of leadership that prioritizes accountability and people-centered governance.
He described Mr. Blamoh as “the right man to bring an alternative vision for the country,” calling on Liberians to rally behind the LAPP as a credible political option.
