IPNEWS: The Political Leader of the Movement for Progress Change (MPC), Mr. Simon Freeman, has criticized both President Joseph Nyuma Boakai and the Managing Director of the Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation (LWSC), Mr. Mo Ali, for what he described as poor leadership and neglect of basic community needs, particularly the lack of running water in the Slipway Community.
Speaking to residents of Slipway during a dedication ceremony held over the weekend, Mr. Freeman cautioned Liberians to be more discerning in their voting decisions during future elections. According to him, the country’s recurring economic and social hardships stem from what he called a pattern of “wrong electoral choices.”
“Liberians always make mistakes by electing the poor people,” Freeman told residents. “The man couldn’t wake up, and we made him President; today, the country is feeling the consequences.”
Mr. Freeman alleged that President Boakai has prioritized his personal welfare over that of the Liberian people. He claimed that the President uses state resources to attend to personal health matters and to support his family.
” When he will buy new kidney, new blood, and a new heart, and when he will take care of his family before considering ordinary Liberians,” he alleged.
In addition to his criticism of the President, Mr. Freeman sharply criticized the LWSC Managing Director, Mr. Mo Ali, for what he described as “gross negligence” in ensuring the availability of running water in Slipway. He noted that despite the LWSC’s headquarters being located close to the community, residents still struggle to access pump water.
“The Liberia Water and Sewer office is not far from here, but Mo Ali has refused to bring water to Slipway,” Freeman asserted.
He further alleged that mismanagement and misuse of public funds are the reasons for the ongoing water crisis.
“There is US$6.6 million in the national budget for the corporation, but half of that money is allegedly used by Mo Ali for personal luxury,” Freeman claimed. “He use half of the 6.6 million to buy cream to shine his skin like me and gives some to President Boakai that he is using to build a US$10 million residence in Lofa County.”
Mr. Freeman’s remarks have sparked discussions among community members and political observers, with some viewing them as harsh but necessary criticisms of governance, while others see them as politically motivated attacks.
As of press time, neither the Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation nor the Executive Mansion had responded to the allegations made by the MPC political leader. By: Andrew B Weah, 0770637216/0886429103, andrewbweah@gmail.com
