IPNEWS: The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA), Grand Bassa Detachment, has arrested two individuals in separate incidents for illegal possession of narcotic substances.

The suspects, identified as Satta Kormah, 31, and Victor Chinedu Mmadu, 36, were apprehended on different dates following intensified anti-drug operations in the county.

According to the LDEA, Kormah was arrested on Sunday, October 19, 2025, during a routine vehicle inspection. Officers discovered 13.7 grams of Kush and 21.8 grams of cocaine concealed in her handbag.

Mmadu, on the other hand, was arrested on October 16, 2025, around 12:00 PM during a patrol operation in the New Buchanan Community. He was found in possession of 41.1 grams of cocaine, 40.6 grams of Kush, and 10 packs of Tramadol. The confiscated substances have a combined estimated street value of US$4,107, equivalent to L$759,795.

Both suspects were immediately taken to the LDEA headquarters in Buchanan for questioning. During the investigation, the LDEA disclosed that both individuals admitted to owning the substances and pleaded for forgiveness.

The agency has since charged them under Liberia’s drug laws, and they are currently awaiting court trial.

LDEA officials reaffirmed their commitment to combating the trafficking, sale, and abuse of illicit drugs in Liberia. They further warned that anyone found violating the drug laws will face the full weight of the law.

“Our operations are ongoing across the country, and we urge the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious drug activities,” an LDEA spokesperson said. By: Andrew B Weah , 0770637216/0886429103, andrewbweah@gmail.com
