In the aftermath of Sunday’s rumors on social media that the Executive Protection Service (EPS) Director Sam Gaye, EPS boss had been dismissed by President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, the EPS boss swiftly denied the rumors insisting he remains the Director of the presidential elite security agency.

Early Sunday morning rumors circulated on social media that the EPS boss had been dismissed by President Boakai. The rumor began with a Facebook post by Sekou Kalasco Damaro, a former presidential aide, to former President George Weah, who claimed that “EPS Director Sam Gaye has been sacked.” The post quickly went viral, drawing widespread speculation online. However, Presidential Press Secretary Kola Fofana quickly dismissed the rumors in a social media post: “EPS Director Gaye has neither been dismissed nor suspended, contrary to circulating rumors. The claims on social media are entirely false and should be ignored as fake news.”. solidifying earlier rejection by Director Sam Gaye that he remains the Director of the Executive Protection Services of the President.

“As far as I know, I have not received any communication about my dismissal,” Gaye said. “I am currently in the U.S. In fact, I spoke with the President, and he has not told me that I am fired.” Gaye added. “When the people fire you, you will see it on Facebook.” Sam Gaye post read.
