A pro grass root advocacy organization, the Solidarity and Trust for A New Day has released the calendar of activities leading the staging of the July 17, 2025, protest in the country.
STAND’s National Chairman, Mulbah Morlu disclosed that as part of the preparation for the July 17 peaceful protest, 20 symbolic caskets will be carried through Broad Street to Center Street as a way of memorializing 250,000 people killed as a result of the Liberian civil war and victims of alleged police brutality in the country over since the inception of this government.
Chairman Motlu made the disclosure when the Concern Civil Society Organizations officially declared support for the July 17 peaceful protest organized by the Solidarity and Trust for A New Day in Monrovia on Monday.
Earlier, the Concern Civil Society Organizations outlined a seven-count reasons for declaring support for the peaceful protest by the Solidarity and Trust for A New Day in Monrovia on July 17, this year.
The concern CSOs, Secretary General, Darlington Barclay, said among other things that they decided to support STAND because the cost of living has worsened significantly under the government led by President Joseph Boakai.
According to Mr. Barclay, contrary to his campaign promise of inclusive and merit-based governance, President Boakai has appointed close allies and family members to key positions in government; thus, side-lining qualified Liberians.
The CSOs claimed that the Unity Party-led government has delayed taking meaningful steps towards establishing the long-awaited War and economic Crimes court.
Earlier, dozens of members of the Concern CSOs paraded the streets of Old Road to a lecture center where they declared support for the July 17th peaceful protest organized by STAND.
