    Liberia: Speaker Koffa Recounts Pope Francis Humility, Especially Advocacy for Marginalized People

    IPNEWS: Even though it was gloomy during his stay in Rome whence he accompanied President Joseph Boakai for an official visit to the Holy SEE, However, Speaker Fonati Koffa remains courageous and memories of his visit with the Pope remains alive.

    In an exclusive interview with House Speaker Fonati Koffa, empathized how he has been so awestruck with this Pope’s humility and his focus on the marginalized of society.

    Speaker koffa expressed profound sorrow to the death of His Holiness Pope Francis,  stressing that ‘the pontiff legacy of service and passing remains a moral example and guide to his life’s journey.

    Pope Francis died in the very early hours of Easter Monday, April 21, 2025 and will be laid to rest this weekend according to the Vatican.

    Speaker Koffa, “I extend my deepest condolences to the Catholic Church, the Holy See, and the global Catholic community during this time of mourning.”

    He noted through prayers and the examples of the Holy father, he has managed to overcome the darkest hours of his trouble at the House of Representatives, noted that Pope Francis  was a beacon of humility, compassion, and unwavering commitment to the marginalized.

    Speaker Koffa Hailed the Pope’s Papacy of relentless pursuit for peace, social justice, environmental stewardship, and interfaith dialogue, championing the causes of the poor, advocating for the protection of our planet, and working tirelessly to bridge divides among peoples of different faiths and backgrounds.

    Recounting his visit to Rome prior to attempts by the Majority bloc to remove him as Speaker, Speaker Koffa stated that memories remain alive when Pope Francis granted him and President Boakai audience at the Vatican Apostolic Palace on October 18, 2024.

    It may be recalled, Speaker Koffa, was apart of Pres. Boakai’s delegation visiting the Holy SEE when rebel Lawmakers stage a coup attempt to remove him as Speaker of the House of Representatives.

    On the expected ruling into the Bill-of-information filed by his lawyer, Speaker Koffa, expressed courage for a victory for DEMOCRACY, and urge his colleagues within the majority bloc to remain patriotic by accepting the outcomes of the SAUPREME COURT.
