Liberia National Police Probes into Shooting incident; announces the arrest of one suspect amid ongoing efforts to identify the others

The Liberia National Police says it is currently investigating the shooting of its Chief Inspector Sam Walker who was attacked during the evening hours around the New Jerusalem Community Junction, Mount Barclay on yesterday, April 5, 2025.
In a disturbing video footage seen on Facebook, Officer Walker and several occupants riding on Pathfinder vehicles came under grave attack by suspected criminals, who according to eyewitnesses had machetes and to a larger dispersed live bullet in the facilitation of their purportedly devilish operation.
An eyewitness recounted that the alleged criminals reportedly pelted stones and released live bullets, leading to the vandalization of the vehicle windshield believed to be owned by Officer Sam Walker, who sustained injuries in the attack.
The situation, which occurred in the evening hours, presents a troubling pattern of alarming criminal activities in urban and rural areas as calls continue to surge for a more drastic and robust actions from members of the Liberia National Police aimed at combating crime-related activities.
In a statement released by authorities of the Liberia National Police, Officer Walker sustained a gunshot wound on his left leg and is currently undergoing medical treatment. The Liberia National Police, as parts of its efforts of restoring calm and upholding the rules of law in the region, has arrested suspect Prince Waylee in connection to the incident.
Suspect Prince Waylee faces interrogations from members of the Liberia National Police over his alleged involvement in what appeared to be a robbery operation.
Meanwhile, authorities of the Liberia National Police have launched manhunts for the additional suspects. Those wanted include Joe Hagan, Joe Hagan Jr., Prince Weayee (aka Chekee), Prince Lord, and Patrick Kellen.
