IPNEWS: —Expresses Gratitude for 800Million RECORD High REMITTANCES to Liberia in single Yr.

Jouse Speaker Cllr. Fonati Koffa has revealed a shocking news of how much remittances Liberians living in the United States remitted families back home here in Liberia abut US$800 million just in 2023.

This staggering amount is even higher than the national budget of Liberia, highlighting the significant impact that the diaspora community has on the country’s economy. The remittances from Liberians abroad play a vital role in supporting their families back home, as well as contributing to the overall economic development of Liberia.

These funds are often used for basic necessities such as food, education, healthcare, and housing, helping to alleviate poverty and improve living standards for many people in the country.

However, Speaker Koffa also expressed concerns about the potential impact of US policies on remittances from Liberians living in America. In particular, he voiced worries about the stance of president Donald Trump, known for his strict immigration policies and attempts to limit remittances to certain countries.

“Let’s pray that President Donald Trump doesn’t go for them,” Speaker Koffa said, emphasizing the importance of preserving the flow of remittances to Liberia and ensuring that the diaspora community can continue to support their loved ones in the country.

As Liberia continues to recover from years of conflict and economic challenges, the remittances from Liberians abroad serve as a vital lifeline for many families. It is essential that government officials work to protect and promote the contributions of the diaspora community in order to sustain and grow the positive impact that remittances have on the country’s economy and well-being.
