On a crisp winter morning, the Brethren of Amos Lodge No. 10 gathered at the Home of the Treausurer Bro. Telebee M. Kamara, in Duazon, Paynesville City.

.The event, held on February 1, 2025, marked a significant milestone in the Lodge’s history, as it brought together members of Amos Lodge No 10 from all walks of life to reflect on the past, plan for the future, and strengthen the bonds of brotherhood. The retreat was not only a time for fellowship but also a platform for making pivotal decisions that would shape the Lodge’s future.

The day began with a warm welcome from Worshipful Master Lionel A. Keller, IIwho emphasized the importance of unity and progress within the Lodge.

“Today is not just about tradition; it is about evolution,” he said in his opening remarks. “We are here to honor our past while building a stronger foundation for the future.” His words set the tone for a day filled with thoughtful discussions, camaraderie, and a shared commitment to the principles of Freemasonry.

A Historic Decision: Major Constitutional Amendments

One of the key highlights of the retreat was the unanimous agreement on major amendments to the Lodge’s constitution. These changes, which had been under discussion for several months, were designed to modernize the Lodge’s operations while preserving its core values. The amendments included updates to membership requirements, the introduction of digital record-keeping, and the establishment of a mentorship program to guide new members.

Brother Franco Johnson, who chaired the constitutional review committee, presented the proposed changes to the Brethren. “These amendments are not about changing who we are,” he explained. “They are about ensuring that our Lodge remains relevant and accessible in a rapidly changing world.” After a lively yet respectful debate, the Brethren voted overwhelmingly in favor of the amendments, marking a new chapter in the Lodge’s history.

The Worshipful Master’s Vision for the Masonic Year

Following the constitutional amendment vote, the Worshipful Master took the floor to present his plans for the upcoming Masonic year. His vision focused on three key pillars: community engagement, member development, and charitable outreach.

    1. Community Engagement: The Worshipful announced plans to strengthen the Lodge’s ties with the local community through partnerships with schools, agriculture, and other charitable organizations. “Freemasonry is not just about what we do within these walls,” he said. “It’s about how we serve the world outside them.”
    2. Member Development: Recognizing the importance of personal growth, WB. Keller outlined a series of workshops and lectures designed to help members deepen their understanding of Masonic principles and develop new skills. These programs would be open to both new and long-standing members, fostering a culture of continuous learning.
    3. Charitable Outreach: The Worshipful Master also revealed an ambitious fundraising goal to support local causes. “Charity is at the heart of Freemasonry,” he reminded the Brethren. “Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those in need.”

A Day of Fellowship and Reflection

In addition to the formal proceedings, the retreat provided ample opportunities for fellowship. Brethren enjoyed a hearty lunch together, sharing stories and laughter. The afternoon featured a guided meditation session led by Brother Roland Dakaboy, Junior Warden, which allowed members to reflect on their personal journeys and the values of Freemasonry.

As the sun set over St. John River City,Grand Bassa County, the Brethren gathered for a closing ceremony. Worshipful Master Keller,Ii expressed his gratitude for the day’s accomplishments and the unity displayed by the Lodge. “Today, we have shown that Amos Lodge No. 10 is not just a place, but a family,” he said. “A family that is committed to growth, service, and the timeless principles of our craft.”

The retreat concluded with a traditional toast, as the Brethren raised their glasses to the future of Amos Lodge No. 10. It was a day that will be remembered not only for the historic decisions made but also for the spirit of brotherhood that continues to define this remarkable Lodge.

As the Brethren departed, there was a palpable sense of optimism and purpose. The 2025 retreat had set the stage for a transformative year, one that would honor the Lodge’s rich heritage while embracing the opportunities of the future.
