IPNEWS: The One Bassa Gathering (OBG) expresses its strongest condemnation of the growing wave of verbal attacks, public insults, and misinformation being directed against Senator Nyonblee Karga-Lawrance, President Pro Tempore of the Liberian Senate, Political Leader of the Liberty Party and a distinguished daughter of Grand Bassa County.
OBG views the recent persistent acts of disrespect as not only a personal affront to the Senator but also an insult to the dignity of the Bassa people and the values of respect and decency that define the culture of our land. Public discourse and political debate must always be guided by civility, truth, and mutual respect, not by insults, hatred, or character assassination.
As a leader who is helping to champion the development of Liberia, Senator Karnga-Lawrence deserves the protection and respect accorded to every public servant working in the interest of the nation.
OBG calls on all citizens of Liberia, both at home and abroad, to reject the culture of insults and division, and instead promote unity, peace, and constructive engagement. Differences in opinion must never lead to disrespect or the tearing down of one another.
Finally, OBG urges media practitioners, youth groups, and political actors to exercise restraint and to uphold ethical standards in all forms of communication, whether online or offline. Our collective strength lies in unity, and our future depends on the respect we show to one another.
