IPNEWs:: The Solidarity & Trust for a New Day (STAND), in collaboration with ‘WE THE PEOPLE’ Movement, fiercely condemns President Joseph Boakai’s deafening silence as poor and vulnerable families across Liberia are violently uprooted from their homes through a ruthless land grab campaign disguised as development.
While ‘WE THE PEOPLE’ respects the fair application of the rule of law, we categorically reject the continued weaponization of the court system to unjustly evict struggling families—while properties of the rich and powerful, like George Kailondo’s Congo Town complex, remain untouched. This disgraceful pattern of protecting the privileged few while punishing the downtrodden is unacceptable.
From Congo Town to Cotton Tree, Block ‘A’ on the Robertsfield Highway, from Battery Factory to Bushrod Island, from Newport Street to Neezoe and Somalia Drive—Boakai’s bulldozers are tearing down poor communities, destroying lives and homes without a shred of remorse. Corrupt judges are clearing the path for land thieves like Matthew T. Sakeuh, allegedly backed by Vice President Jeremiah Koung, to strip struggling families of their rightful land. As cries for justice rise, President Boakai remains deafeningly silent—his silence soaked in guilt, confirming what many now believe: this government is at war with its own people.
This is not land development; it is a ruthless assault on the poor, fueled by greed and protected by the impunity of the powerful.
In the face of this ruthless injustice, STAND–WE THE PEOPLE alliance demands that all Liberians in affected communities rise in unwavering, peaceful resistance the moment a Boakai bulldozer appears. Every demolition attempt must be met with fierce, united, nonviolent defiance. If necessary, call on STAND; we will lead the charge, placing our bodies before the machines to protect your homes, your land, and your dignity—without risking your lives.
Hence, In unwavering solidarity, STAND calls on all members, allies, and supporters to stand with vulnerable families in threatened communities. Whenever the call for nonviolent resistance arises, let us rise together—strong, peaceful, and unbreakable.
Furthermore, STAND–WE THE PEOPLE alliance unequivocally demands the immediate and unconditional release of all peaceful protesters unlawfully arrested while defending their communities. Their continued detention is a shameful violation of justice and human rights. We call on the authorities to end this illegal oppression immediately and restore the dignity of those fighting to protect their homes.
To President Boakai: Your silence amid these brutal demolitions makes you complicit in our people’s suffering. The cries of the displaced cannot be ignored. The people are watching—and they will no longer stand by. United and determined, they are ready to rise for their homes, dignity, and future. The time for excuses is over. Act now, or be remembered as the president who always betrayed his own citizens.
Meanwhile, we appeal to both local and international relief organizations to extend assistance to internally displaced persons and families affected by home demolitions, as they endure ongoing and difficult living conditions.
As we march toward the July 17th “Enough is Enough” Protest, let this serve as a rallying cry: The Day of the People is coming. We will not back down. We will fight—peacefully but powerfully—for justice, equity, and true Land Reform, a core pillar of the JULY REVOLUTION.
