The Inspector General of Police of the Republic of Liberia, Hon. Gregory O.W. Coleman, is in Freetown, Sierra Leone, on an official visit at the invitation of the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) to participate in high-level bilateral discussions aimed at strengthening collaboration in combating transnational organized crime.

IGP Coleman arrived in Sierra Leone on Monday, where he was warmly received at the Liberia–Sierra Leone border by the Deputy Inspector General of the Sierra Leone Police. He later proceeded to Freetown, where his Sierra Leonean counterpart formally welcomed him. The two Police Chiefs held a brief introductory meeting, setting the stage for a series of strategic engagements lined up for the visit.

Today, Tuesday, November 18, the Liberian Police Chief is scheduled to meet with several senior government officials, including:

H.E. Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, Vice President of the Republic of Sierra Leone

Hon. Mohamed Lamin Tarawalley, Minister of Justice

Major-General (Rtd.) David T.O. Taluva, Minister of Internal Affairs

Dr. David Moinina Sengeh, Chief Minister

These discussions will focus on enhancing cross-border security operations, deepening intelligence-sharing mechanisms, and strengthening subregional partnerships to address emerging security threats across the Mano River region.

On Wednesday, IGP Coleman will meet with the Sierra Leone Police Management Board to deliberate on joint strategies, institutional reforms, cooperation in training, and coordinated action against transnational organized crime.

The visit continues on Thursday with a joint press conference to be addressed by the two Police Chiefs, during which they will brief the media on the purpose, progress, and outcomes of the bilateral engagements. The day will conclude with an official dinner hosted in honor of IGP Coleman.

IGP Coleman’s visit reinforces the growing commitment between Liberia and Sierra Leone to bolster security cooperation within the Mano River subregion and to confront criminal networks that operate across national borders.
