IPNEWS: Liberia has expressed its keen interest in learning from Ethiopia’s experiences to achieve its national development agenda.

Louis Sherin Bailey, Liberia’s Ambassador to Ethiopia, highlighted Liberia’s interest in drawing experiences with Ethiopia in implementing national agendas.

The Ambassador emphasized the long-standing friendship between the two countries.

She underscored that the centuries-old relationship between Liberia and Ethiopia has been strengthened, particularly in transport and other sectors.

“Liberia seeks to cooperate with Ethiopia in areas such as health, education, agriculture, and more,” she told local news agency ENA.

The Ambassador pointed out that Ethiopia’s economic growth, driven by sound development policies in agriculture, infrastructure, and other sectors, offers valuable lessons for Liberia.

“Ethiopia has a lot to offer,” the Ambassador said. “It is a country where many experiences and lessons can be learned in various fields of development, especially in infrastructure.”

The Liberian government is focused on national development agendas in agriculture, education, road construction, and the rule of law. “We aim to learn from Ethiopia’s approach in these areas, and we are committed to strengthening our relationship with Ethiopia,” the ambassador stated.

The ambassador also emphasized the importance of the two countries’ collaboration in fostering strong unity and prosperity within Africa. Liberia is working to increase trade with Ethiopia through the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

“We look forward to enhanced collaboration. We aim to strengthen cooperation in health, education, agriculture, and other sectors. Additionally, we are working to leverage opportunities in the business sector. Liberia is one of the 47 countries that have ratified the AfCFTA, which is a significant step toward regional integration,” Louis Sherin Bailey added.

The ambassador also recalled the resumption of Ethiopian Airlines flights to Monrovia on November 29, 2024, noting that this development has further strengthened bilateral relations between the two nations, opening new avenues for increased cooperation.
