IPNEWS: Contrary to report that went viral on several social media platforms, that Liberia’s Art and Culture Ambassador had threatened to resign due to lack of support from government, the cultural icon has refuted the allegation.
It can be recalled that a report circulated on Facebook on Friday, March 21, 2025, claiming that Ambassador Kekura Kamara alias “Malawala Balawala” had threatened to vacate the position of Art and Culture Ambassador due to the government’s alleged failure to provide his with resources to perform his duties.
However, breaking silence on the matter at a called news conference on the weekend, Amb. Kamara contended that the report is entirely false and misleading, stressing that he had never issued, written, or uttered any statement suggesting that he was resigning or considering resignation from his role as Ambassador of Art and Culture.
“As such this fake news is not only inaccurate—it is a deliberate attempt to undermine the progress we are making in reviving and promoting Liberia’s rich cultural heritage. It is also an attack on the spirit of national service and the strong support and partnership which I continue to enjoy in the execution of the mandate given to me by President Joseph Nyuma Boakai and his Government,” he asserted.
Kamara, who is also a renowned culture television presenter, pointed out that since his appointment, he has enjoyed a warm, cordial and collaborative relationship with the President and his Office – there have been meetings on numerous occasions to discuss strategies for advancing arts and culture in Liberia.
“Most notably, I had the honor and privilege of spending an entire week with him during the Christmas Season in Foya, Lofa County—a time filled with meaningful exchanges, cultural reflection, and reaffirmation of our shared commitment to community upliftment.”
“Those who know me know that I take my national duty seriously. I accepted this role not for personal gain, but to serve the people of Liberia and to use art and culture as a force for national healing, pride, and development. To suggest that I would threaten to walk away from this responsibility without any factual basis is not only disrespectful—it is deeply irresponsible.”
“To whoever the author and sharer of such fake news may be, I issue this strong caution: Liberia has come too far for us to allow lies and mischief to divert our attention, twist our focus and derail our noble purpose. From my keen observation these fabrications are not innocent—they are crafted to breed confusion, cast doubt, and distract us from our meaningful work. Let it be known that my resolve remains unshaken, and I will not be moved by rumors.”
He called on media practitioners, bloggers, and social media users to ensure that the content they put out there upholds the truth, exercises professionalism, and is driven by patriotism, thus assuring Liberians of his desire to remain.
“Disinformation hurts us all. It threatens our democracy, our peace, and the very fabric of trust we are working to rebuild. To the Liberian people, I assure you that I am here. I am working. I remain committed.”

Let us reject lies. Let us embrace truth. And let us move forward with unity, dignity, and purpose,” added Amb. Kamara.
