    As Management Calls for Clam

IPNEWS: According to eyewitnesses in Kinjor, on February 15, 2023, Philip V. Blenwhen, a driver who has been in the employ with Bea Mountain Mining Company, stopped his truck on the BMMC New Liberty TSF Road for an unknown reason (possibly due to a need to urinate) and approached the front of the truck back tire. At that moment, the lights of Philip V. Blenwhen’s truck were on.
One source who is knowledgeable of the accident said the driver of a Komatsu mine dump truck, coming from behind, crashed into the truck that had stopped with its lights on. As a result of the collision, the operator was crushed under the rear tire.
Both trucks had no electrical issues (headlights or stop lights). There were safe spaces along the roadside where the truck could be parked. The road was quite wide and had been recently watered to prevent dust.
As a result of that, the driver was immediately taken to the John F. Medical Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Police sources said, The Liberia National Police is carrying on investigation into the incident.
Meanwhile, the company is working closely with the family of the driver while it awaits the outcome from the investigation. The body, by the request of the family, was transported to Buchanan, Grand Bassa County for funeral arrangements.
The company regrets said incident and would like to encourage everyone to stop politicizing a pure workplace accident, and to show respect and dignity to the deceased and his family.
