Former House Speaker J Fonati Koffa along with four other members of the House Representatives slapped with criminal charges by Liberia National Police in ongoing Investigation into arson attack on the Capitol Building on December 18, 2024.

Other Representatives Charged in Connection with the Capitol Building attack include Dixon Siebo, Jacob Debee, Abu Kamara, and Prescilla Cooper, five out of seven members of the House summoned by the Liberia National Police on Monday and currently charged and detained at the headquarters of the Liberia Police pending arraignment in Court in 48 hours under the new, while two others including Marvin Cole and Frank Saah Foko have been cleared of any involvement after an extensive review of evidence.

Police Inspector General Gregory Coleman addressing the Media said substantial pieces of evidence have been gathered and the jury should decide, describing the investigation into the arson attack as one of the most exhaustive probes in criminal investigation ever conducted in an arson case in recent history.

Investigators put the cost of the damage caused by the fire on the Capitol Building at $8 million, a difference of $10 million earlier estimated by the then Majority Bloc of the House during the heat of the impasse.
