    IPNEWS: Buchanan Port manager Jonathan kaipay has admitted that he received US$6-thousand 9-hundred Unitec States dolars in a land sale scandal which has roacked Grand Bassa County.

    Kaipay, stated that the money was a token of appreciation for one and a half lots of land provided for a project linked to the Liberia Electricity cooperation (LEC).

    Speaking Wednesday with Magic FM, kaipay stated that residents of wein town, located in the same area, also received US$4- Thousand 6- hundred from LEC for one lot of land.

    According to him, an additional US$2- thousand 5_ hundred was spent on processing the deed, probate and survey documents for the property, bringing the total amount spent on the land to US$14_ thousand.

    kaipay said officials of the LEC project team experienced difficulty securing land around the main power station, but he decided to provide his land at that amount.

    He maintained that he did not sell the land, but rather agree to provide it in the interest of the County and considered the money received as a token rather than payment for the property.

    The former senator also confirmed issuing a receipt for the amount received, noting that the institution required documentation for accountability purposes.

    However, he restated that the money given to should not be viewed as payment for the land, insisting that he did not charge the institution for
