    Americans are commemorating Patriot Day on today September 11th.

    The event which is a annual day of national remembrance for the 2001 terrorist attacks, with ceremonies and prayer gatherings to honor the nearly 3,000 lives lost. 

    On September 11, 2001, terrorists hijacked four commercial jets, crashing two into the World Trade Center, one into the Pentagon, and another into a field in Pennsylvania. 

    The attacks led to widespread destruction, significant loss of life, and a lasting impact on national security and U.S. foreign policy.

    The terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, caused significant loss of life and lasting trauma for our nation.

    The events of that day, the emergency response and the acts of selflessness—from individuals sworn to duty and everyday people alike—echo in current conversations about patriotism, security and service.

    Today, we remember the victims and the heroes, and we reflect on the impact the day’s events have had on our nation.

    The United States will never forget. We stand united in remembrance and reaffirm our commitment to defending freedom, justice, and peace.” A statement from the U.S. Embassy near Monrovia read.
