    Monrovia, August 5, 2025.

Ahead of the August 7 drug awareness march, the visiting ECOWAS high-level delegation, led by Orlando Pereira Dias of Cape Verde and Senator Edwin Snowe, today visited Center Street in Monrovia, where they held an open dialogue with disadvantaged youth affected by drug abuse.

Joining the team was Monrovia City Mayor John Siafa, who encouraged the youth to take advantage of available support services and remain hopeful about recovery.

The engagement provided a platform for the young people to share their stories and challenges, while the delegation reaffirmed its commitment to advocating for stronger rehabilitation programs and cross-border action on drug control.

The visit is part of a week-long ECOWAS mission in Liberia to raise awareness on drug abuse and mental health issues, culminating in the August 7 “ Say No to Drugs” March. By: Sylvester Choloplay
