IIPNEWS: Reports circulating in some media outlets alleging that Commerce and Industry Minister Magdalene Ellen Dagoseh has authorized or awarded a US$429,000 contract for renovation works at the Monrovia Industrial Park (MIP) have been described as false and misleading.

According to verified documents, the project is still under review by the Public Procurement and Concessions Commission (PPCC), and no money has been disbursed or contract awarded.

Sources within the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) confirmed that the budget in question was approved by the MIP Inter-Agency Advisory Board in line with existing regulations, but all procurement procedures are being strictly followed before any implementation begins.

The Industrial Park project, first established by law in 1966, has suffered years of neglect and encroachment. Under Minister Dagosehโ€™s leadership, the process to revive the park has now gained momentum, with emphasis on transparency, accountability, and compliance with national laws.

Officials have dismissed rumors suggesting that the Minister is personally benefiting from the project, calling such claims a โ€œpolitically motivated witch-huntโ€ intended to discredit her integrity and the Ministryโ€™s reform efforts.

โ€œThe facts are clear the PPCC process is ongoing, no contract has been awarded, and no money has been released,โ€ one senior MoCI official told reporters.

It was gathered that for years now, funds have been budgeted for the same project but there have been no records to show that they have been implementing the project. Under Madam Dagoseh, the project was being brought to spotlight.

Meanwhile, the Wredyu Construction Companu Chief Executive Officer Steve Wredyu confirmed that he has not signed any US$429K project with Commerce Ministery.

” My Company is a registered and respected company in Liberia. I have not signed any agreement as statement. I am not even buidling any guest house for Commerce Minister as claimed”, He said.

Reporters confirmed that the Commerce Minkster is undertaking her private home project in Grand Bassa but not a guest house.

However, the Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to industrial revival, job creation, and good governance, emphasizing that all steps will comply fully with Liberiaโ€™s procurement laws.
