IPNEWS: The House of Representatives will begin formal hearings on the Expenditure Component of the Draft National Budget for Fiscal Year 2026 on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, according to a release from the House of Representatives Press and Public Affairs Bureau.

The statement notes that the Committee on Ways, Means, and Finance, working jointly with the Committee on Public Accounts and Expenditure, will open the proceedings during an official ceremony at 2:00 PM in the First Floor Conference Room of the Capitol.

โ€œThe Ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP) and the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) will appear as the first institutions to present,โ€ the release said, marking the beginning of the committeeโ€™s expenditure review.

The Press Bureau emphasized that the hearings are essential to ensuring transparency, accountability, and fiscal discipline in the national budget process.

During the review, lawmakers will scrutinize allocations across government entities, assess spending priorities, and ensure appropriations reflect national development needs, equity, and efficiency.

The House reaffirmed its commitment to a transparent and participatory budget process and encouraged citizens, civil society organizations, and the media to follow the proceedings.

Hearings will continue throughout the week, with additional ministries, agencies, and commissions scheduled to testify. A detailed calendar is expected to be released to guide stakeholders and the public.
